Strategic Regional Distribution Centre in Wentloog Levels

Commissioned by ALDI to meet growing regional demand for logistics capacity, this development provides 30,000 m² of ambient warehousing, 11,000 m² of temperature-controlled storage, and 4,000 m² of modern office accommodation. Strategically located within the Wentloog Levels, the scheme supports efficient distribution while prioritising environmental stewardship.

Craddys were appointed across all RIBA stages to deliver civil engineering design from early concept through construction. Our scope included drainage strategy, external works, and ground engineering solutions tailored to the site’s sensitive context.

Key challenges included working within an SSSI and Ramsar-designated area, imposing stringent environmental and drainage requirements. Craddys developed innovative solutions, including advanced SuDS integration and resilience measures to safeguard biodiversity and flood protection. Through close collaboration with stakeholders, Craddys ensured full regulatory compliance while delivering a robust, future-ready platform for logistics operations.
