The UK’s largest distribution centre delivered from concept to handover.

This project comprises of over 120,000m2 and considered to be the UK’s largest distribution centre. Craddys were the lead civil and structural consultants working closely with Aldi and their appointed construction team to deliver this momentus distribution centre situation in the centre of the UK circa 17km north and visible on a good day from Aldi’s head quarters situated in Atherstone.

Our involvement was present across all RIBA stages from initial concept and review of the “right site” for the client fully up to handover. Our scope included the design of the primary steel structures, associated external works, substantial earthwork regime and site co ordination across the buried infrastructure. Key deliverables were to undertake the design optimising the carbon savings where possible and delivering an optimal engineering solution from not just a buildability perspective but also sustainability and economical.
