About the project

Consolidating Learning on a Single Modern Campus

Opened to pupils in 2019, this project involved the design and construction of a new 420-place primary school to replace two existing infant and junior schools previously located half a mile apart. The development consolidated education facilities onto a single site, improving operational efficiency and providing a cohesive learning environment for pupils and staff.

Craddys were appointed to deliver civil and structural engineering services for the new-build school. The two-storey building comprises a steel-framed structure with brick-clad elevations, powder-coated aluminium double-glazed windows and curtain walling, and insulated metal roofing. The internal layout includes eight classrooms alongside ancillary accommodation such as a hall, kitchen, and staff facilities.

The civil engineering scope included the design of new external works, incorporating a football pitch, multi-use play areas, and the reconfiguration and extension of the existing staff car park. Following completion of the new school, the former buildings were demolished, allowing the creation of enhanced outdoor spaces and a fully integrated school campus.
