Cycle to Work Day Success

Craddys  joined the organisers of Cycle to Work Day, Cyclescheme, and encouraged their employees to pledge to cycle to work on Wednesday 14th September 2016. The company wanted to get on board with the Cycle to Work Day to encourage cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly method of transport.

This year’s event saw nearly 45000 cyclists across the country leave their cars at home in favour of bikes instead. By doing so an amazing £303,000 was saved from car costs, and 142,000kg of C02 was saved from car emissions.

Craddys’ Cycle to Work Day was a huge success, a total of 132 miles were clocked up by 10 members of staff who traveled from all across Bristol and North Somerset to their offices in Ham Green. Simon Pitchers, the managing director managed to clock up the most miles for an individual rider, despite the fact he got lost on his journey and ended up in a deer park. The staff were greeted by a welcome breakfast of orange juice and croissants provided by the management. Craddys continually supports their staff who cycle to work by offering bike friendly facilities at their offices. In addition, they are part of the Cylescheme and have helped 21 members of staff purchase bikes through the scheme in the last 7 years.

As a result of the day, many staff members have chosen to cycle into work more often.
