Our City Cup, Bristol Refugee Festival.

Over the weekend, Craddys were proud to play a part in the sponsorship and participation of the Our City Cup 6-a-side football tournament organised by Wesport – Sport Management as part of Bristol Refugee Festival.

The Craddys team put in some spirited performances and were able to qualify from the group stages and even win a penalty shooutout in the quarter finals before eventually being knocked out in the semi finals.

The tournament finished with a great battle between ABC Together and Joga Bonito. ABC Together are team of asylum seekers and refugees supported by Aid Box Community while Joga Bonito are a team of players made up of students from Trinity Academy, located just down the road from Lockleaze Sports Centre. Some great football was played and in the end ABC Together came out with the victory!

Bristol Refugee Festival is an established charity organisation who run cultural and educational events, bringing together communities from across Bristol and beyond to connect, share and celebrate. Their aim is to celebrate the contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to the city, create a better understanding of why people seek sanctuary, help overcome misconceptions and promote successful community cohesion.

The annual football tournament, which has been running since 2011, plays an important role in this and we were delighted to support the event by providing the venue hire for the day.

All in all, it was a fantastic day. A big thank you to Wesport and all involved for organising a great tournament.
