Baytree School shortlisted for project of the year

We are thrilled to see that Baytree School in Clevedon has been shortlisted for SEND Project of the Year. Thank you to Rio Architects for sharing some fab images and footage of the school from above. Craddys have been involved in this from inception in 2018 through to its opening in 2024.

For those interested in the engineering:
🏗️Braced steel frame
🚧Piled groundbeams (Soft alluvial ground with bands of peat).
👷Localised heave protection measures due to removal of mature trees and plastic soils.
📐Suspended beam and block flooring
🧱SFS inner leaf, brickwork / cladding outer.
💧Shallow gravity stormwater drainage solution with retention ponds discharging to local ditch network at a controlled rate.
🌊Extensive flood modelling and simulations should there be a breach in the sea defences at Clevedon to establish evacuation time.

Special mention also to on-site team at Willmott Dixon and wider design team who worked through the multiple challenges that this project presented.
