The Building Safety Act – Why Independent Inspections Matter👷♀️🦺
Welcome to week two of our six-week series on the Building Safety Act (BSA) and what it means for the construction industry. This week, we’re exploring:
⚠️ Why Independent Inspections Matter 🏗️
Independent Inspections are not just a regulatory requirement for High Risk Buildings (HRBs)—they are a vital safeguard. They ensure that Safety-Critical Elements (SCEs) such as fire compartmentation, structural integrity, and cladding systems are installed correctly and function as intended.
For HRBs, these inspections are required as part of the Golden Thread. However, for Non-HRBs, they are often overlooked due to time and cost concerns.
But here’s the reality: The potential risks of skipping these inspections – such as fire hazards or structural failures – far outweigh the initial investment.
By adopting Independent Inspections across all projects, we can build a culture of safety and accountability that protects both building occupants and the industry’s reputation.
