Craddys Supporting Historic Gasholder Restoration at King’s Road Park

We are very proud to be part of the team supporting the restoration of Gasholder No.2 at King’s Road Park in Fulham — the oldest known surviving gasholder in the world, built between 1829–1830. This Grade II* listed industrial landmark has recently been approved for careful dismantling, refurbishment and re-erection as a key feature of the new public park.

The project is a standout example of sensitive heritage engineering within a major brownfield regeneration led by St William (a Berkeley Group Plc company), transforming a former gasworks site into a thriving mixed-use neighbourhood with around 1,800 homes and six acres of open space.

Our team has been involved in the structural engineering and temporary works aspects of this complex restoration — working collaboratively to preserve historic elements while ensuring the integrity and longevity of this remarkable piece of industrial history. Through careful planning and engineering expertise, we’re helping deliver a landmark that will be enjoyed by the community for generations to come.

Congratulations to all involved — it’s an honour to contribute to a project that celebrates both heritage and innovative design. 👏
