Kingsditch Industrial Estate, Cheltenham

New build industrial units on a brownfield site. Completed to a BREEAM excellent standard, Craddys were responsible both phase 1 and 2 structural and civil works; this included the design of mono-pitch steel portal frame structures, value engineering of foundation solution and detailed cut and fill assessment, plus the design of off-site highway works and liaison with local highway authority.

Avonmouth Fire Station, Bristol

Client: Avon Fire & Rescue/ Architect: AHR

Craddys are currently providing full civil & structural design services for a new fire station located on the site of the former fire station in Avonmouth, Bristol. Site constraints and the need to keep the existing facility fully functional gave rise to a challenging design and phased approach. Currently on site, this project is due to be completed in 2021. Newton Heath Maintenance Facility

Client: Stobart Rail and Civils

Value: >£10m

Currently on site, this impressive new train maintenance depot has been designed and detailed by Craddys. The facility includes several overhead travelling cranes incorporated in to the primary steel portal frame structure. The buildings are generally steel framed, on a grillage of piles and reinforced concrete ground beams. Craddys took on the role of engineer, plus principal designer on this scheme.

Regional Distribution Centre, Goldthorpe

The development of 40,000m2 ambient warehouse, 10,000m2 temperature controlled warehouse and 4,000m2 office accommodation. This site is located on a greenfield site on the edge of an existing industrial estate. Significant cut and fill works were needed to facilitate development platform.

Regional Distribution Centre, Cardiff

The project consists of 30,000m2 ambient warehouse, 11,000m2 temperature controlled warehouse and 4,000m2 office accommodation. This site was particularly sensitive due to being within Wentloog levels. SSSI and Ramsar site placed significant constraints on the civil engineering design.

Still in construction, the site comprises warehouse and office space along with associated service areas and car parking. The site consists of a total area of 1.68 hectares and involved the development of the following – extensions to the existing chiller and freezer, provision of more office space, development of a new two-storey car park along with an extended goods out apron and a new truck office.

Regional Distribution Centre, Isle of Sheppey

The development comprises warehouse space, office space, a gate house and truck service area along with associated car parking and wider service yards for truck parking and maneuvering. An existing ditch that ran across the site also had to be diverted around the proposed development.The land to the immediate south of the site was an ecologically sensitive area and careful consideration was undertaken for all aspects of the civil engineering design.

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility, Torbay

Client: South Devon NHS Trust

A new build facility comprising a 8,500m2 highly serviced manufacturing facility with associated infrastructure and warehousing. The new pharmaceutical unit’s sterile environment enables the research and development of new and innovative medicinal products. It is the largest NHS manufacturer of sterile products in the UK.

New multi-purpose high-tech manufacturing building in structural steelwork with precast concrete and insitu concrete elements and a substantial sheet piled basement. Incorporating bespoke design solutions for clean room technology, testing areas and specialist vibration sensitive suspended slabs and equipment. Bespoke designs for and integration of client unique processes.

Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) Framework

Craddys were lead consultant, project managers and civil and structural engineers for multiple VOSA developments across the country. Complex structures with subterranean concrete elements (designed to limit crack width propagation and to water retaining codes) and intricate service integration. Highly serviced structures with detailed coordination across all disciplines. Craddys were appointed to a framework, with £30m value contract, delivering 20 developments (of varying scale and complexity) across the UK.

This was a new build industrial units on a vacant site within an existing industrial estate. Craddys undertook detailed assessment of existing private storm water drainage system and flood risk assessment and design of mono-pitch portal frame structure with independent mezzanine office pods. End users include Mercedes Benz.

Wood Waste Processing Facility, Port Clarence

A new wood waste processing facility at Port Clarence on the banks of the Tees. The scheme site is approximately 7 hectares and comprises wide open concrete hardstanding standing areas, where waste wood is processed and transferred elsewhere as required.
