HTM / HBN) which has led to several commissions as Technical Advisors to Healthcare Trusts and appointment on healthcare frameworks. This project saw a new 4 storey extension to the existing building on the hospital site. Initial plans called for the building to be mixed use, split between laboratories, offices and work spaces as well as a café/communal area. Craddys were tasked with providing an economical design that also provided enough flexibility to allow the client the option to adjust layouts in the future. The project was awarded a BREEAM excellent rating.

This was one of the largest and most ambitious PFI healthcare projects in the UK, involving the construction and management of a new 832 bed facility on the existing site. Craddys were appointed by North Bristol NHS Trust during the preferred bidder stage of the project to act as a Technical Advisor to the trust. The primary function of the role was to carry out a critical technical review of the PFI contractor’s design proposals.

Craddys were appointed by the Trust to develop the scheme for the new Pathology Building. Craddys designed the extension to the Learning and Research building and a new Pathology Phase 2 building where Craddys developed the scheme design and employers requirements. Craddys were retained as Technical Advisors to the trust during the contractors design phase and construction works on site.

The refurbishment and extension of the existing historical Beaufort House Building to provide diagnosis and aftercare support building. This project was completed within the live site and was designed to meet BREEAM Very Good Standard.
Client: St Andrews Property Management

Craddys were appointed as civil and structural consultants by St Andrew’s as part of their design team. The structural design required significant coordination with the design team to achieve the required ward layout as this is the most critical aspect of the design. St Andrew’s are leading experts in mental healthcare and therefore have very specific design requirements.

The redevelopment included the demolition of the existing hospital buildings, construction of a new Community Hospital on part of the site and the clearance and sale of the remainder of the site for residential care use.
