Delivering new Net-Zero Educational Campus buildings with Sustainable Engineering
This DfE-funded redevelopment transforms Strode College through the demolition and reconstruction of A Block on its original footprint, alongside a striking new glulam-framed “student street” linking college buildings with Strode Theatre. The scheme also delivers state-of-the-art training kitchens and dining facilities, temporary decant accommodation, new offices, and additional works for Crispin School—all while keeping surrounding buildings live throughout construction.
Craddys were appointed from RIBA Stage 3 onwards to provide full civil, structural, and transportation engineering design services. Our scope included foundations, superstructure design, and external works coordination for multiple interconnected elements.
Key challenges included working within a fully operational campus and integrating complex new structures with existing facilities. Craddys’ collaborative approach ensured efficient, flexible solutions that support evolving educational needs while maintaining safety and continuity throughout this ambitious programme.
