Craddys have undertaken the structural design of 149 homes including 100 apartments and 49 houses to regenerate an existing affordable housing site in Swindon. We were involved from the early stages of this project including demolition and site investigation to provide a well-engineered and economical design.
Client preference dictated that this was a traditional construction with foundations, concrete floors and masonry walls to providing a robust structure. Foundations across the site were coordinated with the site investigations to ensure that bearing was achieved within the Kimmeridge Clay strata and that allowance was made for the mature trees remaining, historic pond and ditches within the site.
Craddys worked with the main contractor throughout the project on a design and build basis.
