State-of-the-Art Police Training Facility
Commissioned by Gloucester Constabulary, the Sabrina Centre is a modern two-storey police training facility located on the former Berkeley Nuclear Power Station site. The building accommodates a conference venue, multiple meeting and lecture rooms, a canteen, gym, parade ground, and parking for approximately 250 cars, providing flexible, high-quality working and training spaces for 300 officers and staff.
Craddys were appointed at the feasibility stage and collaborated with the architect through all RIBA stages, providing both civil and structural engineering services. Our scope included the design of a new parade ground, storm drainage systems, and external works, with construction make-ups specified to integrate seamlessly with existing site infrastructure.
Key challenges included detailed flood risk assessment due to the site’s location in a floodplain, and ensuring new works were integrated into an operational site with minimal disruption. Craddys delivered innovative, coordinated engineering solutions that enabled the safe and efficient construction of a state-of-the-art training facility while maintaining full functionality of the site throughout the works.
