Developing a Major Corporate Campus to Support Future Growth
Commissioned directly by Aldi Stores Limited, this extensive redevelopment of the retailer’s national headquarters in Atherstone delivers a modern, expanded office campus designed to accommodate continued business growth. The project includes two substantial office extensions, internal mezzanine construction, a six-storey split-level car park, a striking glazed entrance atrium, and significant site-wide drainage and highway reconfiguration works.
Craddys were appointed to provide full civil and structural engineering services from RIBA Stage 2 through to completion, working alongside architect Stoas and construction manager DSPCM. Our role involved detailed assessment and strengthening of existing structures to enable vertical, lateral, and longitudinal expansion, including a 100-metre-long office wing extension and the vertical enlargement of an existing block.
The showpiece glazed atrium features two L-shaped pedestrian bridges suspended within a planar glass façade and roof, demanding intricate analysis and precise detailing. The completed redevelopment transforms the site into a high-quality, future-ready headquarters that reflects Aldi’s brand identity and ambition.
