This redevelopment project aims to create highly sustainable Hub and bike hire buildings. In addition to the visitor centre buildings, three operational buildings are being constructed to replace the existing structures on site.
Craddys carried out structural design for all buildings during RIBA stages 2 through 4, including the design of the primary glulam frame for the hire building, steel frames for the remaining structures, and sub-structure design for all buildings. During RIBA stage 3 several options for structural form of the glulam frame were undertaken and presented, including estimations of material efficiencies and 3D renders of the structural arrangements.
Craddys undertook all civil engineering design for the expansion of the existing carpark, including cut and fill assessments and design of foul and surface water drainage. Design of a surface water drainage system was undertaken with consideration of the existing drainage infrastructure and the nature of the site including biodiversity benefits.
