Craddys were appointed from stage 3 onwards to develop the design of two separate buildings at the Northgate Yard site in Bridgewater. One building was a new 7 screen cinema complex incorporating precast auditoria seating and specialist acoustic and vibration limiting detailing. The other building was a series of 5 retail units and a bowling alley.
Craddys worked with Willmott Dixon in identifying value engineering opportunities in both the structures and the externals; almost 100 tonnes of steel was saved from the original inherited design and the substructure solution was changed to a piled solution which mitigated risk in the ground. The project also saw the redevelopment and landscaping of Brewery Fields to the north of the site.
Craddys undertook a cut and fill exercise along with SUDS drainage design which offered a permanent water feature for the local community.
