Faringdon Retail Park

Faringdons retail park is a new development in the market town of Faringdon, Oxfordshire. The development includes two new retail premises, Aldi and Waitrose, as well as a Costa drive-thru coffee shop. The site was previously a green field site and as such, required a considerable amount of engineering input at pre-planning stage.

Achieving planning for the site was a particularly challenging affair that required coordination between numerous parties and statutory bodies. Developing the flood risk assessment and drainage strategy required liaison with Thames Water and the Environment Agency. A Section 287 and Section 38 agreement were required to form the junction from the main road as well as the new adopted road that services the site. Both of these required careful collaboration with the local highways authority.

Faringdon Planning

Using advanced computer software and flood risk analysis experience Craddys were able to justify development in what was previous indicated to be functional flood plain. This work also unlocked additional parts of the site for further development.

Faringdon Hydraulic

Due to the tight constraints on the programme, Craddys were requested to move from tender stage to construction much quicker than on a typical job. To achieve this Craddys used their retail design experience to prepare the three separate designs concurrently, providing information required on schedule and within budget. Included in this challenge was the requirement to provide a design that would suit three different, yet equally demanding, end users of the buildings.
